Bugatti Type 59 Gand Prix car

One of the very last race cars produced by Bugatti, eight of these were built in 1934. Five are believed to have survived. Caught this car during a vintage weekend at Sears Point, where it was being sorted in preparation for that years participation at the Monterey Historic races in August.

3.3 liter straight 8 supercharged motor making about 250 + HP, four speed transmission, radial-spoked wire wheels, cable-operated mechanical drum brakes.

Seeing a car this rare, being allowed to sit in it and talking to the owner who is intimately familiar with the details of this car / design for an extended chat made for a really special experience....probably the most original of the Type 59 still around - ex Tazio Nuvolari.

All with SL  / 24-90 V.E.
