Lens hood alternatives for X Vario

Hi everyone.  

Just bought an X Vario and I normally use a lens hood.  I can't find any of the original or JJC replacement 18774 available anywhere.

Does anyone have any experience of other hoods at all?  I was wondering if the LX100/D-Lux hood would work without vignetting for example.

Any suggestions?

I'm using a Canon FD ML-1 Macroflash as a 'lens hood'  :)   

X Vario, Leica E52 7 diopter achromatic c/u lens plus the ML-1 flash ...

... ongoing project ... working fine for half life size images ... apologies for untidy desk ... was a spur of the moment decision this morning to commence experiment ... 'In the field test' to follow ... hopefully with some results. Kodak AA batteries did not fit the ML-1 power supply properly ... they are very slightly longer than e.g. Duracell AA. Power supply needs 8 x AA cells .. very fast recycling. Flash is 36 years young & still works fine with original capacitors
