Problem with M42->Leica M adapter: LV switches off after a few seconds

Hi,

I have received today an adapter to mount M42 lenses on my M10 and I notice a strange problem.

The LV (with or without the EVF) switches automatically off after a few seconds. I have another M42-Leica M adapter, which I have used for weeks and never had this problem. The same with the Nikon F->Leica M adapter, never experience this problem.

I have the Lens recognition option to OFF, which is actually the default but that setting has no influence on the problem

Any suggestion? Why is the camera reacting that way?

Thank you.

Hi

I have exactly the same problem with original CV screw to M mount adapter. The problem is the adapter has a cut out on the mount that exposes the 6 bit led sensor to light.

in a dark room LiveView starts but as soon as I move the camera around it drops out. The lens recognition setting to off or to manual lens has no effect. If I set the Lens detection to automatic I get an error message no lens mounted.

i have come to conclusion that the lens detection setting is not working as expected (bug).

I have observed this on my M10-P with latest firmware and though not investigated in as much detail seems to be identical on M246 Monochrom with latest firmware.

Seems some people are putting dark tape over 6 bit sensor.

Try mounting adapter and lens on camera and see if you can see 6 bit sensor on base lens flange.

Good luck.

Thanks a lot, that was indeed the problem. Now I understand why in the dark of my room it worked but not outdoor.

I put some dark insulation tape in the internal of the adapter to cover the cut you mention and not everything seems to work.

Actually the problem did not go away, again trying in my room, though in the early morning with much more light seemed to work, but once outside same unpredictable behaviour.

I simply returned the item, and the seller accepted the return.

Just for the records...

Thanks for your support.
