LocalHero1953 Posted March 30, 2020 Share #21 Posted March 30, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) TRRS (i.e. 4 contacts) are the pins used on headsets, allowing for audio in and audio out - they're used in phones, and in laptops/tablets, while desktops typically have separate, 3 contact TRS, audio out and mic in sockets. I'm an expert because I hit the same problem myself yesterday connecting an older mic to my laptop - it wouldn't work. I ordered an adapter (TRS pin to TRRS socket) online today. It sounds like you want the opposite one: TRRS pin to TRS socket. I guess your mic was designed for connecting to a smartphone. This is nothing to do with Leica - it's the same socket on my Sigma fp, which is designed for video. What Sony was it that you said it worked with? Advertisement Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 Hi LocalHero1953, Take a look here External Microphone Leica SL2. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
DBD Posted August 5 Share #22 Posted August 5 I have an SL2 and connected my external mic Sennheiser MKE600 and I see audio levels coming through, but I can't hear anything from my headphones that are plugged into SL2 as well. Should I not be using headphones that has a mic built into it. I've even tried the generic Apple headphones with mic and it still doesn't work. Thoughts? The Sennheiser is self powered so I shouldn't need phantom power. I've tried with smaller Rode mic and same thing. I've even connect a DJI Mic 2 and connect the RX out to the SL2 and I plugged same headphones into RX and I can hear audio, but I kind of want to work with the Sennheiser instead and don't want to hook up a DJI Mic lav. The Mic has a battery that provides power, you should be able to set the Mic lever to -12db. I had the same issue with many headphones, you need a regular stereo plug TRS. The port on the camera reacts differently when you plug in a TRSS, that is used from the remote cable. After trying many studio headsets, which everyone uses for audio monitoring, I was looking for something small that does not get me hot in the summer. I landed on a Sennheiser IE 4 Earphones, and they sound great and very light.
DBD Posted August 5 Share #24 Posted August 5 Thanks for the reply, I ended up getting regular stereo Audio-Technica ATH-M40x and they worked out with the setup.
