Bart D Posted March 27, 2020 Share #1 Posted March 27, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) From time to time I use a roll of film. Just a few per year. Mostly out of nostalgia. Now I have finished a roll of Portra 400. I can't drop it of at my usual shop or any other, obviously. Any suggestions on how to best preserve the exposed film? It's already in the canister, in the box. What's best, refrigerator, freezer, room temperature ? Send off to a developing & scanning service anyway? If so, any suggestions in or around Belgium? Like Germany, UK, the Netherlands, ... I won't be processing the film myself of course or this question wouldn't arise.

Stealth3kpl Posted March 27, 2020 Share #2 Posted March 27, 2020 I had used film in the fridge for over a year and it developed fine. I think in the case of Pan F it's advised to develop it immediately. I suspect Portra 400 will be fine in the fridge as I've never heard anything to the contrary. Chuck Albertson Posted March 28, 2020 Share #3 Posted March 28, 2020 If you're in a humid environment, try to de-humidify the film before chilling it.
Bart D Posted March 28, 2020 Author Share #4 Posted March 28, 2020 Thank you kindly, Pete and Chuck. The quarantine over here is prolonged till April19th and most likely till May 3rd. I'll keep it in the fridge till then. Not particularly humid over here now.
mradey Posted April 1, 2020 Share #5 Posted April 1, 2020 Just got five rolls of Agfa Scala 200x back from Silverpan in the UK. Exposed in 2011 or before and stored in my beer fridge until a few weeks ago (yes - 9 years plus in the fridge). Fridge running at 3 Celsius, film stored in the original plastic canisters. Results are perfect. Recommend the lab. Website suggest they are processing now, just not shipping the developed film back.

Seems I have some time left to get the film developed 🙂
