Jeff Wagner Posted March 21, 2020 Share #1 Posted March 21, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) I’ve tried shooting panoramic images with the CL and rarely do they turn out well. Looking at the image in LR it is all chopped up vertically. What am I doing wrong?

jaapv Posted March 21, 2020 Share #2 Posted March 21, 2020 Switch on the artificial horizon and turn in a straight line. Set the exposure to manual.
david strachan Posted March 21, 2020 Share #3 Posted March 21, 2020 (edited) Or use a tripod for best panoramas. They do take some planning of the sequence. Don't choose a too-wide angle lens as the edge distortions won't blend. Lots of overlap between frames. Manual exposure is definitely required. ... jaapv Posted March 22, 2020 Share #4 Posted March 22, 2020 Actually, in-camera panorama modes do quite well hand-held. On a tripod it is not that easy to swivel at the rate that the camera requires.
FrozenInTime Posted March 23, 2020 Share #5 Posted March 23, 2020 (edited) Try not to tilt the camera up and include about a third of a frame overlap, and the CL works well even with 180 horizontal degree views. If you need a large vertical coverage, overlap frames even more and also include a untilled level sweep in the set. CL with 18-56 handheld.( click on image for 4k view ) Welcome, dear visitor! caigy Posted March 23, 2020 Share #6 Posted March 23, 2020 The panorama function on the CL does work, but I invariably find that the quality is not as good as simply taking a series of 3-5 overlapping photos as you manually pan the camera across the scene. This can be done with the camera horizontal or vertical, and I've posted examples of both. I find it best to overlap 1/3 of the previous image on each of the next frames, and then I merge them in Photoshop. Unless you are using very slow shutter speeds, a tripod isn't necessary.
