The ravens are annoyed. With the drop in foot traffic, there aren't that many slobs to drop half-finished takeaway on the sidewalk for them to feast on. There aren't enough food scraps in the alleys behind the restaurants to justify dumpster-diving. So they're getting more aggressive about following someone up the street if he's carrying any food at all.

Here's how they enforce social distancing on public transit in Seattle. It's surprisingly effective (for now) and doesn't distract the driver

This Thai restaurant has stayed open for takeaway and delivery during the lockdown, but hadn't seen the need to board up their storefront until today, after the copy shop down the street was torched overnight. Now everybody in the area is doing it, and the price of plywood is soaring.

The ravens haven't gone away, y'know, here devouring a half-bag of crisps that were dumped by this tree. The lack of food scraps caused by the lockdown has left them, well, ravenous.

Yes, Graham!

It's been quite sweet; fairly often when a parent or two is out taking their youngster(s) for a walk we'll see the kids pointing and smiling at all the teddy-bears and other soft-toys in the windows all along the street. If it brings a bit of cheer into their lives during these strange times then I'm all for it!

In Paris, in January 2020 they were evidently already aware something needed attention, so they sent around the Coved cleaning teams.

I think these guys may be open for business. Tesla showroom in South Lake Union area of Seattle. Boarded up to slow down the looters. It sort of draws you right in, doesn't it?

They're really open for business - the downtown Target store. I swung by the Pike Place Market today to pick up some fish, and noticed that most of the businesses/buildings in downtown Seattle are swaddled in sacrificial plywood in anticipation of Election Night rioting that never took off. Points to Target for using the old-school knotty-pine plywood instead of OSB. SL, 35SL

Marquee of the Varsity Theater in Seattle's University District. After being shut down in March, the Varsity re-opened in October at 25 percent capacity - in fairness, 25 percent was better than their pre-pandemic levels, no thanks to the Tiny Screens Brigade. But now, with the big resurgence of Covid-19 infections locally, it's shut down again for at least a month.
