The Angenieux 45-90 in Leicaflex mount (and the 100mm APO Macro-R) lenses at my local auction, where I thought nobody would have seen them or bother to bid for them, went for very high prices. I gave up on the Angenieux when it was at £500 and the APO Macro 100 when it was at £800 all plus 29.4% buyers commission. I don't know what the final prices were as their sale price system is not working at the moment. That is higher prices than you would pay on eBay.

...... and (at least for the 100 APO) comparable with what you would pay when buying from a dealer, when you would have some sort of used warranty! But 29.4% does seem to be one hell of a buyer's premium.

John the premium is even more (+6% then VAT) if you buy via the auction aggregation website, The-Saleroom. These auction houses are getting plain greedy. I know that the upmarket classic car auction people are having a quite thin time as folks have realised it is cheaper to use one of the specialist dealers than the auction houses.

Wilson, I just looked up the terms for a local auctioneers. Hawley's of Beverley. Their buyer's premium is 18% + vat, 21.6% in all. So your place does indeed seem somewhat rapacious!

I just tried to buy the 100/2.8 Macro-Elmarit-R advertised by Richard Caplan. Same problem as in the past with them - website not updated, lens sold to someone else, so that I bought online and a refund is now going to have to be processes - 😡

Wilson, you would have thought that it was not beyond the wit of man to integrate the display side of their site with the sales side, thereby saving the work. Isn't it what IT systems are for?!
