chasdfg Posted March 12, 2020 Share #1 Posted March 12, 2020 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi all I recently acquired an M10M (posting here cause the M10 variants are pretty much all the same) and have noticed that removing the body cap from the camera is a little different from my now-sold M240. The body cap removal just struck me as a little different based on muscle memory. Basically on the M240, I unlock it and wriggle it a little and it comes out. On the M10M, I unlock it but it appears to catch on the rangefinder arm/roller cam before I can wriggle it out. For completeness, my M to L adapter with body cap is removed the same way as the M240 (but anyway there is no rangefinder arm). I also owned an M8 and M9 briefly and I don't recall them being like the M10M. At first I attributed it to the fact the M10 RF is different from the M240's/general physical differences between the two models, but this didn't make sense to me as the mount and rangefinder arm positions should be the same across models. The rangefinder focus is accurate and I have no issues in this respect. Lenses mount and dismount as per normal. I just don't want to knock rangefinder arm accidentally in the event I use the body cap (which is rare in the first place as I'll usually have a lens mounted). Thanks in advance Chas Edited March 12, 2020 by chasdfg

Thanks in advance Chas I had M6, M9, M240, M10, and play with M10M for a week. I don't see noticeable different from the M10M comparing to other. I feel my M240 is a little bit tight but not noticeable. Have you try with other M10M at the store?
250swb Posted March 12, 2020 Share #3 Posted March 12, 2020 Can't really confirm or deny it because they body cap comes off and never goes back on again unless the camera is sold. If it is a case of wanting to slim it down to get the body into a pocket a cheap LTM collapsible 50mm can serve both as a body cap and usable lens. The expensive solution is one of the MS-Optics tiny lenses.

Nope not tried it against any other M10 body (let alone another M10M). Not sure if I can be bothered to bring a body cap to a Leica store to ask them if I can test locking and unlocking it on a few bodies. In any case a non-issue as I'll almost always have a lens mounted on the camera. Was just an odd muscle memory observation when I unboxed the camera and again last night when I so happened to clean the lens mount - just wondered if any one else might have experienced the same.
