Neko Posted March 9, 2020 Share #21 Posted March 9, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have the APO macro elmarit 100/2.8 and the Canon MP-E 65 .Use them with the SL2 with plain satisfaction. The MP-65 is fantastic and use it with the MC-21 adapter. for ultra macro purposes. I use the elmarit 100 for normal macro and art reproduction with the Leica L-R adapter. Both are very fine lenses. The resolution and color rendition of the APO macro elmarit are incredible. We are researching about textures and new visions with the MP-65 and microscopic lenses..very interesting.

rriley Posted March 12, 2020 Share #25 Posted March 12, 2020 For macro with the SL, I have been using the Leica 100mm APO-Macro-Elmarit-R f/2.8 and the Elpro (for 2x) and am happy with the result.

That's the obvious choice to me, but I've had one since 2001 to shoot with my R8. I have one without ROM, and that enables me to us the Leica Bellows-R. And you also have the excellent ELPRO-APO. It's an incredible, affordable system. US$2K should get you all three pieces. I have the 60 but find the image quality of the 100 so much superior. Autofocus isn't such an issue since you'll want to manually focus anyway. I also have the 120-S macro lens but find the R lens more convenient. Manicouagan1 Posted March 13, 2020 Share #27 Posted March 13, 2020 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I tested my with my Canon 100mm 2.8 IS Macro L lens using the Sigma MC-21 adapter on my SL2 The in-lens image stableization works and the images seemed just fine when processed in Lightroom using Lightroom's Canon Lens profile. The lens model and aperture are recorded in the EXIF data not much else about the lens (focus distance for example). michali Posted March 13, 2020 Share #28 Posted March 13, 2020 Miniature Rose -SL2 & APO Macro Elmarit 60mm TL f2.8 I recently purchased this lens, even though it's APC format, I'm really pleased with its performance on the SL2. Boojay Posted March 14, 2020 Share #29 Posted March 14, 2020 Because I use the CL and the SL2 the Sigma 70 seemed the best option for me, I haven't done much with it yet but at the price it seems like a winner. on SL2 Welcome, dear visitor! HeinzX Posted March 14, 2020 Share #30 Posted March 14, 2020 (edited) With the Canon EF Macro 180 mm adapted with Novoflex. Still with my past SL - but just as an example and uncropped. The result with the SL 2 might just be a liittle bit better. It is a pity that this lens can only be adapted with a thumb adapter on the CL. Thank you very much Leica that this is not possible, even with the last firmware update. But of course it is possible to use it on the SL 2 in APS-C mode, even with an add. Kenko 1,4 converter . Therefore the maximum equ. focal length with converter and in APS-C mode would be 180x1,4x1,5 = 378 mm, in FF mode 252 mm, a lot for a macro lens. Welcome, dear visitor! alywit Posted April 1, 2020 Author Share #32 Posted April 1, 2020 In this time of Covid I decided to cut my budget deeply and found someone willing to sell me an older Summarit 90mm F 2.5 for my SL2 on the cheap. I didn't have a 90mm prime lens and it is taking beautiful portrait shots, additionally with the Macro Adapter it is pretty special. I am only just getting to know how to best focus it, but I am surprisingly happy with the results. Thanks everyone for your supportive advice. I am quarantined here in Chicago so the shots are definitely not exotic thus from my backyard. Here is the link to a couple of others pictures I took today as well. https://flic.kr/s/aHsmMjUEWD Welcome, dear visitor! Very reasonable priced at around 100 EUROS/USD used. My experience is that this is a razor sharp lens. I have used it a bit for illustrations and I am completely satisfied. Thanks Conrad69, My current setup for ultra macro is this: Gitzo Systematic 5 series. Arca Swiss Cube 1 tripod head. Arca Swiss focusing rail. Leica SL2. Canon MP-65 lens. Microscope fiberglass iluminator. With this setup I can get 5x magnification. As you know at 5x the DOF is very shallow and some times I need to do focus stackig. So far I manage to do it manually (quite cumbersome though..) I intend to go a bit further and try 10x and 20x magnification using microscope objectives. My question is if you use focus staking when shooting with your Qioptic and if so, with what kind of setup ( motorised focusing rail...). Welcome, dear visitor!
