I recently came across an opportunity to buy a used M10 Silver from a shop for $5200.

A few days  later I saw the M10 (Sliver) on sale on Amazon for 5400. It was stated as new and was sold "by Amazon" -- not a third party through Amazon.

I waited a day to think about it while at the same time realizing "If it seems to good to be true, it usually is...".  I know there are scammers on Amazon, but what caught my eye was that it said it was sold solely by "Amazon".

A day or two later it was gone. I am still seeing new  M10's being listed on Amazon for about $6200, still a bargain. But these are sold by vendors I have never heard of and when checking their policy's,  some of them have a 50% restocking fee if returned.

So I guess the question I'm asking is has anybody bought an M10 from Amazon at a good price?

As a point of fact, I actually bought my Q (not Q2) from Amazon a year ago for a very good price and I've been happy with it.

Thanks,
Mike

Interesting. Would not think Amazon would bother with a one-off. Posters often mention 'cheaper' Grey Importers in Hong Kong, but what is the source of these imports? You would expect Leica to have a tight grip on their distribution network, but perhaps not.Unless it is a way of reducing excess stock to not upset official Dealers, or us as customers.

I would not gamble that kind of money on buying an M10 through Amazon.  No way in hell.

JMHO.

Is it that much of a gamble if you can return it for a full refund?

Well, that's the thing. For the third party sellers through Amazon, the return policy says they can charge up to  50% restocking fee.

This is why I was interested in the one that was sold directly through Amazon. Their return policy is much better, typically a full refund.  But even still Amazon makes mistakes and maybe the M10 that said it was sold directly through Amazon was actually third party.

I bought a new M10-D from 6Ave through Amazon back in September 2019 for $6,991 delivered. The camera arrived 5 days later in new condition. It was a great price.

Yeah, that was one of the vendors that showed up. Thanks for letting me know.
