Here we go, refreshed the screen. Look at the chin and the eye...and this is wide open. How much more resolution does one need?????

Love the OOF rendering of this lens wide open and the excellent close focussing capabilities... shot this and the barn image on a day when it was -25C, and zero problems with either the 35 APO or SL

Centre.....remember, this is at f/2.0. Corners are as sharp as the centre. The only reason to stop down is for DOF. The lens is as sharp at f/2.0 across the entire imaging plane as it is at f/5.6. Maybe I just got lucky with a good copy, but I somehow doubt this.

RE: your first comment, obviously this is purely subjective. If you don't like the lens, I cant argue with that.

RE: AF

Are we discussing the AF on the lens or the image quality?

I meant to say that Karbe’s statement that it is the best lens Leica ever made seems exaggerated to me. When I look at #22, #30 and #31, I see very good performance. But in #23 and #26 I think, this can’t be the same lens. This is strange, you can’t put that aside as subjective.

Just a hint, you’re looking at compressed LUF JPEGs. 😂

Based on everything we have seen here, I am confident that users experience is a more valid finding on performance than the dxomark test. I think also that Sean Reid will publish some test results soon and compare it to other 35mm lenses.

And one is badly compressed and the other extremely good?

I will re-do those images without the artistic interpretations when I’m home after work. Trust me, the resolution is through the roof on these. Also, on my Mac, if I click on the Lightbox image it opens into another tab which than allows me to click again for another round of magnified view. This best shows the image as exported.
