How to upload images:

Prepare the image as follows:
1.   The image should be sRGB and 8-bits
2.   Reduce the size to 2480 pixels on the longest side. (smaller sizes can be set, but are not recommended)
3.   Sharpen properly for screen.
4.   Save as JPG to your desktop, reducing JPG quality to produce 1000 kB (2000 kB for sponsoring members).
5.   In Lightroom these parameters should be set in the Export dialog.
6.   In the Forum posting or editing box, click “choose Files” and select the image.

It is also possible to embed an image through linking, but the  embedded image must still fall within the forum size rules above. There is also the risk of a broken link when the image is moved or deleted on the other site. Not recommended.

When you find an image on the forum you see a preview. Click on it for good quality. When the plus symbol appears click on it for full size.

tks Jaap

i made the error only to reduce <1MB, and not minimise long side, both together

when you take only one of these, it fails

kregards

I did some local adjustment brush work to improve the contrast and brighten the birds a bit. I confess that B&W is not natural for me, but I'm learning and open to suggestions.

Thanks David S. for the recommendations.

Even using the correct image dimensions, I still seem to be losing a lot of sharpness / detail until the image is actually clicked on. Are the recommended settings designed to prevent this quality degradation when images are viewed in-thread, or just to make sure there are no failed uploads?

Uber Eats Delivery boys having a chat in between jobs. Focussing on managing highlight detail doesn't mean that shadows areas (blacks) automatically fall into place during post processing M10M files.

M10M 75mm APO-Summicron ASPH at f/6.8, ISO 160, 1/1500 sec

Lichen war!

This is a full resolution crop of a photo of a great battle. Very slow movement along the front lines. On a boulder above the surf line, right on the coast.

Not the greatest shot of the day but I like the framing and architecture in the background.

I enjoy pushing the limits of camera gear. I took this Male Broad-Tailed Hummingbird photo this morning before the sun came around my shady spot and ruined my setup. Leica M10M with three Canon 600 EX-RT flashes set to 1/64 power and optical triggering so they would flash simultaneously. The camera was set at 1/125, ISO 160, f/16. The idea is that the flashes provide all the light and thus will stop the movement of the wings. The power of the flash sets the pulse width which in effect is the shutter speed. In this case it's around 1/4000 of a second,. By the way, the FOTOS app is terrible for this. There's a 7 second delay after taking a photo until it's ready to take another. In that time the bird has gulped the sugar water and left. Anyway, this is a fun challenge and definitely not what the M10M was intended for.

Oh. I forgot. 35 ASPH FLE. I needed a short telephoto, but the camera and lens is borrowed and it’s all I have. The image is fairly heavily cropped because of the 35 mm focal length.

I also want to mention that I am extremely impressed with the M10’s shadow detail and recovery in post. I had several images where the flashes did not fire. Even dramatically underexposed, I could bring out the images. The noise is very uniform. The best of any camera I’ve ever looked at.
