A week or two back, I tested the new-to-me Summicron-M 28mm f/2 ASPH on the M10-M. In the excitement of that, I next took out the ancient and much maligned Hektor 135mm f/4.5 for a walk. And then decided to do yet another walk with my old favorite Summilux 35mm f/1.4 v2.

My 'tests' were essentially a walking shoot, walking my usual routes around the neighborhood, and shooting hand-held of subjects that caught my fancy with each focal length in turn. Totally informal and just intended to build up a feel for what the lens was like on this camera, really. I made about 35 exposures with each lens, on each walk, and subjected them to my usual grading and selection process.

The result was about 75 photographs that I find satisfying enough to post. (!!) That's a lot of photos to post, I've been working my way through them in groups, posting them to flickr, and I now have about 25 more to go through, finish render, and annotate. All three lenses are obviously capable of very nice results, even the Hektor.

I won't try to dump 75 photos onto this thread ... I'm picking and choosing a few out of that set to post here, a few at a time. The rest are on (or will be on) Flickr as I get to them...

Here are three I liked using the Hektor 135mm. My camera set up for this lens was to set the aperture to f/8 and leave it there, set the AutoISO parameters such that the camera would always try to expose at 1/250 or shorter exposure times, and I fitted the Visoflex 020 as well because I wanted to be able to check the RF focus carefully. The biggest issue with the Hektor 135, in my opinion, is that it has a very fine-threaded focusing helicoid and you have to concentrate doubly hard to evaluate the RF image being aligned properly to achieve critical  focus. It was great to be able to use the RF and get it to what I thought was just right, then flip my eye to the Visoflex and check that I'd gotten it right with magnification. By the time I made about the 10th exposure, I found I no longer needed the Visoflex. Übung macht den Meister! :D

That is a yellow jacket trap, not a bird feeder. I use two of them during the summer.

Really! I had no idea ... It looks like what a lot of folks hang as a hummingbird feeder around here. Thanks! I'll correct the title. :D

Smashing portrait. I don't understand why this doesn't have about 50 "likes" clicked on it.

A few weeks back, I realized I hadn't really tested my 1960 Hektor 135mm f/4.5 on the M10 Monochrom very much, if at all. So I went out for a day's shooting with it, made about 35 exposures. I've posted a few of these in the past week and some ... But I thought "Why not put all the Hektor photos into an album together?" And so I did. :)
