The DOF really sets it off. But the tones are so close its is a bit of a challenge for me to see the separation that the DOF helps me feel. Strong composition! CHIPS

I notice a lot of these posts involve use of an orange color contrast filter. Are most folks using the Leica branded filters, which I recall reading somewhere were spectrally tuned to the monochrom sensors and exhibit less focus shift? I've been using the B&W MRC orange filter and do notice focus shift on my 28 Cron Asph v2 and 35 Lux FLE (the latter has an issue anyway on the M10M, and the orange filter just exasperates the back-focusing).

Could you tell us where you read this? A filter would have to be tuned to a lens to avoid focus shift, and in most cases I don't think that it would be possible anyway. I suspect this will be yet another case of people Making Stuff Up

With the UK in national mourning, and flags being flown at half mast, this was taken in Clare, Suffolk today.

(It's only the second time I've been out with the M10M since December when I swapped my venerable M9M for it).

You are right, but its  intentional. I find these days that subtlety of grey tones is my interest - perhaps its a sense of not wanting high contrast and just blacks and whites. I like the discrepancy between the focus and composition telling you one thing, and then having to fight through the tones to hold onto it. Or go back and forth between the two readings. Too often, folks push for the more dramatic, my interest is in the proximate.
