Recently have been experimenting with filters for the M10M. Conclusion: red is a dead loss, nothing is sharp and the effect is a complete let down; orange is often too much contrast, and generally too extreme; for me, yellow works best - the effect is apparent but subtle and raises contrast for clouds in the sky, while not doing too much to other areas of a scene. Hence, a yellow filter will live on my lenses when they're on the Mono. I went ahead and bought the Leica yellow 46mm for an eye-watering amount, then saw sense and got a reasonably-priced (ie affordable) generic yellow 39mm. Yesterday went out to try my luck. Not much in the way of landscape around here so it was back into the city. This is one of the many bridges over the Sumida River in Tokyo.

Is anyone else finding filters helpful or necessary with the M10M?

The clouds have a glow and the sky is just right. Yellow Filter here I come. I heard yellow filter on M10M is a plus for portraits and skin giving it more life. Don’t know if this is actually the case for the M10M but I’ll try it to see. Best,

I also had sharpness issues with red and infrared filters. Orange and yellow appear to be less problematic. Blue and green too, but I hardly ever use them. I think I never had problems with the grey filter.

This might be a viewfinder issue. I guess you can avoid the problem using the live view option.

I have heard of colleagues using their yellow filter all the time, but I would not do that. I use a UV filter most of the time to protect the lens, but at night you often have to take it off to avoid internal reflections. So, in my opinion, the less glass is before the lens, the better.

These certainly look sharp. Are you focusing with the viewfinder, the screen, or EVF?

Hi nodrog,

I only focus through the viewfinder.
Yep, it's sharp only when it's required. I use different filters to gain an expected result. Please feel free to zoom to 100% for details.
For instance, another sample of the radioactive applied HOOGU, which is the orange filter, FYR.

And these pictures applied HOOAR, which is light yellow

I waited for several minutes waiting on a bus to be reflected and unless you know it is there you would not see it.  On the plus side I caught a jogger I didn't notice until I looked at the photo.  Win Some / Lose Some.  London is still very much locked down.

The red filter is perfekt for me. I have green, yellow, orange, blue and red filters for my Leica M10Monochrom. It's make really fun to play with it.
