Yes, time saving tools, which are never worthless, unless you're a purist who doesn't believe in post processing. And I find the control point technology is better than the range-sensitive tools in LR.

Can anyone say what the DXO version offers that the original version doesn't?

I occasionally use the Nik software, especially Silver Efex.  And Paul is absolutely correct that the Nik control point technology is superior to Adobe's.  It was nice though when Google distributed this software at no cost.  Is there anything really new in the DXO version?
