Digilux 2 shutter in video mode

When taking video at 30 frames per second, does the Digilux mechanical shutter open and close that many times a second? I don't hear the shutter at all, and wonder whether it's just done electronically. Otherwise, that would seem to be a lot of wear on the shutter.
