SL2 & VE 90-280mm L @ 280mm 100% crop.

I took this image last night hand held, IBIS was off  ISO200  f4 @ 1/400s   All the images with IBIS on showed movement blur.

Any explaination or idea for the blur with IBIS? I have some examples of the same  behaviour with the 90-280, but I have not set aside time to explore possible reasons. Just curious...

Helge- I'm also trying to work out why.  IBIS is good for photographing static subjects at lower shutter speeds, correct?

The Moon's not static, it orbits the Earth at a speed of 3,683 kilometers per hour or 61.38 kms per minute = 1.023 km/sec.  At the same time the earth's also moving.  This may explain the movement that the camera's picking up, and IBIS being useless in this situation.  Just a thought....

But the moon is 400,000 km away from us.  Here's another way to do this calculation -- the moon moves across the sky covering 360 degrees every 24 hours, more of less.  That's about .004 degrees per second, and the exposure was 1/400 sec. The movement blurring is  about 10 millionths of a degree, and since the moon only subtends about half a degree when seen from earth, this will be hard to see.
