Fantastic 3d pop and clean rendering. Is this a Canon version with adapter? And what focal length?

To me, the Leica SL2 offers a lot for people who have manual focus lenses. I would love to have all the Leica SL primes, but I only have the 50 mm APO SL Summicron. That is a beautiful lens, and the major reason I purchased the SL2. When there is any motion, I am much more likely to get great or at least decent focus with the AF Summicron than any manual focus lens, and the sharpness and transitions to out of focus areas are exceptional with the Summicron.

However for very precise focusing or video work, there is nothing like the long throw of a manual focus lens. Since I learned I could use the wheel on the SL2 to zoom in or out on the magnified EVF, I now get much better focus, and the focus assist works differently at different magnifications as well. Many decades ago, SLR cameras had pentaprisms or split focus circles for precise focusing of manual focus lenses, but those are long gone. The SL2's EVF brings back precise focusing. In addition, the quality and color of the pixels from the SL2 are excellent, not to mention the great ergonomics of the camera. Here is another Zeiss Otus 55mm for Nikon with adapter shot yesterday with the SL2 (shot at f1.4).

Playing around with the Sigma 100-400mm L on the SL2.  As I've said in another thread, for its price, weight, reach & versatility this lens punches way above its weight. This image was shot in shade, the lens has captured good detail & sharpness.

Was it a delibrate act to keep the tail of your dog (subject) out of the frame? Or was it unintention while you pan along your fast moving subject? I ask as this is the biggest challange of any photographer attempting to catch a subject in motion. For longer focal lenses (say 300mm or longer), a Dot Sight viewer can be used as a supplement tool to track moving subject. I used it with my 90-280mm set at APSC mode to extend focal length to 420mm and had pretty good results once it is calibrated well and with some practice to track fast moving subject through it than the camera's EVF. View through the dot sight viewer and trust the SL2's AF to do the rest. An example on my post above your's.

"Was it a delibrate act to keep the tail of your dog (subject) out of the frame?"

Yes, I cropped the rear-area of the running dog off.
I felt that it gave the photograph
more "speed," or maybe it made the viewer look left, as to where the dog was going.
I'm not really sure (ha), but I did like the look, and I did deliberately slice the photo there.

Here's the original.

And another one, procedure as outlined above. The 'rainbows' are caused by highlights reflected from the fjord, back-illuminating the Blue tit's delicate swing wing feathers (I believe). SL2+SL24-90+SF-C1 flash trigger+Nissin MG10 flashes.

Great catch! The colors come from diffraction in very small scale feather structure, see http://www.paraselene.de?uk:142493.

SL2 + Sigma 100-400, which packs a lot for its size/weight

First is a visitor who walked across my yard to sun himself in the woods next door
Shot is cropped in post a decent amount, to the point of being APS-C probably

And then I went to the beach, which arguably 100-400 was too much for, 24-90/105 or 70-200 would have been a better range, even the 20-60.. none of which I own (yet)
What was originally a pretty mediocre sunset turned into fire in the sky 10-15min after setting..

Thanks for looking
