Well, TBH, it was not quite clear to me. At any rate we appear to agree that on the CL it is best to prevent lenses from collapsing fully, although shutter and sensor cannot be damaged.

Was the same on the film CL more or less. It's not the film or the shutter that could be damaged but the CDS cell and/or the semaphore arm holding it.

Indeed and Leica used to give the same kind of advice about the M5 (leaflet 120-47 from 1971 IINW).
