Advertisement Posted October 31, 2019 Posted October 31, 2019 Hi Justin44, Take a look here a second hand M10 or a brand new M-E(type 240, 2019) ?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted November 2, 2019 Share #22 Posted November 2, 2019 I am probably the wrong person to ask, as I sold my M240 and retained my M9, but getting an M10 might save you from buying an M11.
jto555 Posted November 14, 2019 Share #23 Posted November 14, 2019 I am using the M240 but I would go the M10 if I had that option.
RexGig0 Posted November 14, 2019 Share #24 Posted November 14, 2019 My congratulations to the author of the original post! For other readers, who may find this discussion, in the future, I will post some comments. I am glad to have started with an M10. At the time, there were so very few pre-owned M10 cameras yet available, and the asking prices were not much lower than for new ones, anyway. The M10 viewfinder experience is better for my eyes, as I wear eyeglasses while shooting. I shoot often, in quite low light, and the M10 performs better than the Type 240 at higher ISO levels. On the subject of buying pre-owned cameras, I have done so, from reputable sellers, usually a local seller, Houston Camera Exchange, in Texas, which is an authorized Leica dealer, with a very reasonable return/warranty policy on pre-owned equipment. After my first M10 was damaged, during a fall, I bought a pre-owned Type 246 Monochrome, and then added a pre-owned M10, both from Houston Camera Exchange. (My first M10 was subsequently repaired, successfully, at Leica North America’s service facility in NJ.) Using the Monochrom 246 showed me that the slimness of the M10 makes very little difference during actual use. The convenience of the M10’s ISO button is, in my opinion, over-rated, though it is a visually attractive feature. (The sensor in the Monochrom 246 performs very well at high ISO settings, so is not part of a 240-versus-M10 discussion.) The rear button arrangement of either model series is workable enough. I am no videographer, but the M10 has no video capability, it that matters to the individual shooter. (When I do feel a need for video, the iPone 11 Pro Max serves plenty well enough, even having a multi-lens arrangement, each with its own miniature camera, allowing seamless transition among focal lengths.) I was very glad to be able to use the low-light advantages of the M10, during my final opportunity to visit my father, at his home, where he kept the interior quite dim. Even using a 35mm f/1.4 lens, I had to use high ISO to get clear hand-held shots.
george-m Posted November 16, 2019 Share #25 Posted November 16, 2019 I was deciding between the M9 with its iconic colors and the M10. I gave a thought to Typ 240 too - it's an amazing camera, there is nothing wrong with it. But I instantly knew that I would be still having GAS for the M10 in this case, so decided to save some time and money and bought the M10. Very happy with it so far. I'm so happy ! Congratulation! For me, I prefer M10 or M10-P over the M-E definitely. I own a M10 and M10-P but for some reason, I prefer a louder shutter sound of M10 😆
