I want to thank the OP and all of the others who have contributed to this thread over the past years. Before I set out I checked in on the forum and found this thread.

This morning I decided to take a walk and set up a task to take BW photos of steps in Doylestown.
 
Here is an image that I think captures "stairness" in these parts.
 
As an added bonus I had a number of great brief encounters with a variety of people. Having a camera in you hand make you very accessible.

Here's an old one of mine. I had to go back several times to get the right time of day for the shadows of the staircase on the side of this derelict warehouse building. It would have been taken with my R9 and scanned at my local Frontierlab processing lab.

I very much like this one. I'm going to be accused of pedantry here, but the left/right symmetry is so very nearly perfect that I would have been tempted to crop a tiny bit of the LHS. I also really like the way that the slopes of the converging verticals tend to resonate with the angles of the staircases (if you see what I mean).

Gorgeous. The extreme contrast  between the burnt-out white and the inky blacks is very effective IMHO.
