Do you mean that the camera doesn't lock the ISO (when in auto ISO) in manual mode?

I think this is normal? Mine doesn't do this either. I thought AE lock only works in Aperture priority mode?

What is “meter memory lock”? Is it in the manual?

Yes, page 136

Metering memory lock

For compositional reasons, important parts of the subject are often not in the center of the picture, and as a result such important subject items may on occa- sion be excessively light or dark. However, metering on the LEICA M9 is strongly center-weighted, essen- tially only an area in the center of the picture is cali- brated to an average gray scale value.
Subjects and situations of this sort can be overcome very easily even in aperture priority mode, using metering memory lock.

Also possibly relevant to @Kathrin

Metering memory lock is not available if the shutter release function is set to Soft

Jaapv is absolutely right, I got confused with the setting of my other camera! Thanks for your replies!

I got confused the same way once, after switching back and forth between the M9 and the M typ240 for a few days, as the latter does allow AE lock via ISO in manual mode.
