I use an Industar-22 (a collapsible 5cm LTM) on a Leica IIIb. Here are some from colour film (mostly Aga P100CT E6 slide)

An unscientific comparison of two 50mm lenses... an Industar 22 (1949 Russian Zorki, shown left) and a Summilux Pre-Asph (~2000 German Leica, shown right). Both 50mm.

also a shot of the same person holding the lens & camera 6 years later

I really like this photo of the picknicking people. Don’t know why, it reminds me of The Garden of Earthly Delights.

Yes, I also have a bunch of these in the "forgotten lenses" drawer...

Here's a couple of pictures (previously posted in The view through older Glass thread). I'll try and dig out more.

1990 Industar 61 L/D (all-black 53mm version) on the M9

Weather is dismal, hopefully it stops raining for awhile so I can take the Red Army out for a march.

A couple from my two Jupiters; the first, Jupiter-3 (50/1.5) on the M10, the second, Jupiter-9 (85/2) on the M9 Monochrom. The focusing on the 9 was so stiff as to make it almost impossible to use, so it's currently with Malcolm Taylor getting its axle-grease replaced with something a little more co-operative. I'm looking forward to trying it out with some portraits.

Darn, my Contax (German)  lens doesn't qualify 😏.  Can anyone comment on the longevity and condition of these lenses after sitting in drawers or camera bags for years?  Mecanically?  Optically?

Great photos everyone!

They’re not the best made lenses, mechanically, even when new.
Optically, mine did survive the years without the usual ailments of haze/fungus and dust.

For what they cost, they can be easily replaced as they are readily available.

As you may well know, they are cousins of your contax.

The first batches were still made with zeiss jena glass and parts. And of course, the machinery.

At least as good as Leica lenses of the same age, Contax in general not sure about East German post war Contax/Kiev.

You can use them with a Contax/Leica adaptor.

almost all Japanese and Russian lenses made just after WW2 have plenty of German components..i don't want to get into the politics of the Allies stealing designs & raw materials, nullifying Patents etc etc etc here....google can help you..

Not partial to the color images (no offense, or is it offence?) though the B&W really do shine, particularly Mustographer's samples in post #11.

Thanks James! I think you're right; from my limited use of these lenses so far, they do seem happiest in B&W, and often when wide open with low-key subjects - I love the bokeh in my shot of the camera and glasses. Here's a more straightforward shot though, from the Jupiter-9 and Monochrom1, probably at around f8.

I'm not colors expert. Those were published at our local magazine.
