stuny Posted August 2, 2007 Share #2 Posted August 2, 2007 Philip - I'm glad to see you returning to post images again. This is a very fun series (my favorite one is only on the link -- Your friend is photographing the woman with the white gauze outer shirt) and I encourage you to add that one to this thread, or start a new thread with it. All but one of the super high contrast shots worked well, but I thought the one of the woman walking the dog towards you needed more shadow detail. In the one with the two women walking a dog I thought including the rear view mirror added a nice sense of space and location, though I wonder about traffic behind you at the stop sign (It looks as though you stopped at a stop sign). samwells Posted August 2, 2007 Share #3 Posted August 2, 2007 Philip -Very enjoyable set...even more so is the slideshow via the link. I like the richness and deep contrast of the colors, emphasising the golden quality of the sunlight. A great sense of improvisation in the best sense of the word. cheers: Sam

spylaw4 Posted August 3, 2007 Share #5 Posted August 3, 2007 ........Philip, you got a haircut! ........ . And it suits you! Nice series - I particularly liked "1009"!
johnwolf Posted August 3, 2007 Share #6 Posted August 3, 2007 Very enjoyable series, Philip. Looks like a great outing in the city. How come the images on the web site look so much better than the same images posted here? I was going to suggest that you raise the highlights some of the pics in this thread, but then I looked at the web site and they look fine. Must be the jpg vs. Flash conversion? philipotto Posted August 4, 2007 Author Share #7 Posted August 4, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thank you Stuart, I can always count on you for thoughtful insight. I don't recall holding up cars behind me when I was stopped at the light, so I presume they were crossing against the light. They were all shot RAW @ ISO 200. Opened in Lighroom. No developing. Auto WB. This is the one? Here is the dog walking lady. And here is a developed version. What do you think? philipotto Posted August 4, 2007 Author Share #8 Posted August 4, 2007 Thank you Sam. Right you are Ed, just the other week. Thanks Brian. Which one is 1009? Looking forward to more summilux D photos. Thanks John. I exported them with the default LR jpeg settings, which is a bit compressed, the last three I posted are a bit less so. Better? andybarton Posted August 4, 2007 Share #9 Posted August 4, 2007 I like the "undeveloped" version of these last two better, Philip. Good series - you should get out more often
johnwolf Posted August 5, 2007 Share #10 Posted August 5, 2007 Better? Hope I didn't appear to be criticizing. I just noticed a difference between the web site versions and forum posts of the same images. John
Joe Mondello Posted January 29, 2008 Share #11 Posted January 29, 2008 Looking at this old thread with its R-D1 images I'm reminded of what I really love about this camera and that is its color rendition. Something wonderfully painterly about it.
roguewave Posted January 29, 2008 Share #12 Posted January 29, 2008 Phillip, nice series. I assume the portrait of you was taken by your friend. Nice image.
fielden Posted January 29, 2008 Share #13 Posted January 29, 2008 Great series Philip. I love the use of the wide open aperture in the first few shots.
