 Saturday 12 June

9:30-10:30. Nieuwlandstraat 28 Tilburg:

Meet at “ Pig and rye “ very good food and a nice place to be.

You can also buy some (lunch)bread here if you like.

The “ worstenbroodjes “ a typical southern Dutch treat are the best in the Netherlands.( No really, I’m a connaisseur )  The “pain au chocolat” is better than in France J and their pulled pork…well that’s up to the English guests to decide. Last I read, they were cited in Vogue Magazine.

Sounds perfect - maybe a little bit too much beer :D :D:D

I am on the list to be vaccinated, but no appointment set yet, so let us hope it happens before June.

I am looking forward to it.

Villa Pastorie only has 4 rooms, so if that is booked out, where else do you recommend, Paulus?

I've had dose one and am due my second before mid-May.  However there seems to be a lot of uncertainty here over the ability to travel internationally, notwithstanding the UK Govt potentially allowing this as early as 17 May. And today in UK, one of the main headlines is the emergence of a number of cases of the 'South African' variant in areas of South London.

There is speculation that this development may derail the current roadmap for gradual easing of lockdown in UK.

I think therefore that I am going to have to bow out, but hopefully 2022 might allow more certainty over travel. Who the hell knows?

For those who may meet up, enjoy yourselves!

John

Hi Paulus,

Bearing in mind what John wrote above and that I live in the area of south London where the 'Kent variant' (UK variant), the SA variant, and the Brazilian variant were all found first in the UK, I think at this stage it's unlikely that I'll be able to join you all in Tilburg.

I shall wait to see how things look a little closer to the day and if, by magic, things improve and I don't need to quarantine in the Netherlands or the UK then I might be able to join you all.

Pete.

Hi Pete, as you say, nothing is sure in life.. except..

Things in The Netherlands are in my view a little chaotic. As far as I know we have a lot of variants . UK etc. including, you didn't have to help with that. I hope that everything works out for the best, we'll see. Today we heard that the Olympic sporters all get vaccinated. Meanwhile I'm working unprotected in school for the last year...so teaching isn't like doing top-sport🙂.

Hope to see you soon, bring the " Leica -variant " with you if you've got it!

I've had the 'Leica disease' for many years ^_^ but I wouldn't want to bring any Covid variants with me.  I am fortunate to have been vaccinated so that would be unlikely.  I am glad that you are well and that you've been able to keep working and earning money through the pandemic.

Hope to see you again soon too!

Pete.

Sorry to be OT but I thought that being vaccinated didn't prevent one from potentially being a carrier. I could very well be wrong though!

Which is why I said "unlikely" rather than "impossible". 🙂

There doesn't appear to be a wealth of definitive information on the topic so I'm considering that I might be unknowingly dropping virions (I hope not!) even though I've had no symptoms and have been vaccinated; I have no desire to put others at risk.

It could also be that this threat gets the guiness record for longest planned event☺️, we will see..

Ohhh, are you planning another postponement???

Can you plan a postponement?

If we are planning and we have to postpone, that will not say, that we plan these postponements.

They just happen, out of common sense. For me, I would not like to postpone, but we still have to be realistic.

We'll see what happens.

I talked to the owner of The Villa Pastorie has four rooms and it's possible to sleep there with thirteen persons. Really that's what he said. Sound like something from the past...

One could say: if it's not possible to eat , walk, or sit outside and have a drink together in or outside a cafe, to me it seems not a very good moment to have an event.

Like others in the UK contingent, I think it unlikely we will be travelling anywhere before the autumn, unfortunately.

The nice thing Tilburg Revisited 2022 will be that the inner part of the town will be so rebuild, the people that were here a few years ago, would not recognize the same place. 🙂

We’ll just call it a fieldlab event. The government may even support it financially.

win-win-win situation 😂
