Let me share some more old film photos about Tokyo with you in addition to my earlier threads about Tokyo and Japan which I had posted here. The photos were taken on film with a M4-P and a M6, with lenses of 28, 35, 50 and occasionally 90mm focal length. I kept the hard copies of the photos  in the size 20x30cm now for almost 30 years and scanned them, certainly not a way to improve quality and resolution, but I simply do not know where I keep the films after 30 years and several moves.

Let us begin....

The annual cherry blossom of the "Sakura", also called as event "Ohana-mi", literally meaning "Let's see the flowers", actually meaning let's drink as much as possible, plays an important role. People come together in late March under the cherry trees and enjoy the spring..... eating, drinking, having fun! Here, at Ueno Park, on the northern Tokyo.

Still, at Ueno Park, seems, one or another got "tired" meanwhile and sleeps on the ground.

Safety is given - the police is around at their "Koban" box in vicinity of the park. The yellow signboard indicates no traffic deaths, but 197 people hurt in accidents since begin of the year.

Celebrating has a long tradition in Japan, not only during the cherry blossom, but almost all over the year with the "Matsuri" festival in any city and district, when heavy wooden shrines are carried through the streets - leaving exhausted porters.

The entrance to the Meiji Shrine is in the dark background between the trees, not visible now. The round pillars tells us, don't smoke here!

Others look more professional, I should mention, the street along the Yoyogi Park was closed every Sunday for traffic in the eighties to create a place for young musicians. You could find and listen (or decide better not not to listen)  to hundreds of groups and single artists - amazing indeed!
