Adz Posted September 7, 2019 Share #1 Posted September 7, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) Is this supposed to be normal as described by Leica manual? Under high ISO, there may or will be banding appearing on the image. I tried shooting under various ISO and it seems that above ISO 1600, the line appears very obviously. Even during playback on the camera, the banding is visible. But this banding seems to me more like a fault of the camera sensor? Below ISO 800, little to none of these appears. Welcome, dear visitor! jdlaing Posted September 7, 2019 Share #2 Posted September 7, 2019 It’s not banding. It’s dead pixel.
Adz Posted September 7, 2019 Author Share #3 Posted September 7, 2019 Dead pixel within the sensor? The line spans from the left to the right side of the image.
maxfairclough Posted September 7, 2019 Share #4 Posted September 7, 2019 Hi Adz, Please send both the DNG and marked Jpeg files for this image to pixel.media@leicacamerausa.com. A technician will retrieve the files and a custom firmware update will be created and emailed back to you for uploading and correcting the pixel line error. This happened to me when I had my first Leica M10 and they were able to patch this and have it to me all within a few hours! Let me know how you go. 1
Adz Posted September 7, 2019 Author Share #5 Posted September 7, 2019 Hey Maxfairclough, thanks for the guide. This set is a loan from Leica for me to try out. I expressed interest in purchasing one, and they kindly allowed me to loan for 4 days. Today I took it out for a family event, and I seem to like the results I'm getting. The colour rendition is so much different from the Q2. I will highlight to them the problem I faced.

Their suggestion was to take it to a repair dealer/back to Germany. A quick email to Leica Germany/Leica USA and both suggested a firmware fix so it would not require me sending in my camera etc. They are very quick to fix this issue. No idea how it is caused but it seems to be common.

low325 Posted September 7, 2019 Share #8 Posted September 7, 2019 perhaps they need to rescan/remap the sensor on a machine only available at leica.
Sam Posted September 13, 2019 Share #9 Posted September 13, 2019 Same thing happened to me. Leica Store Miami was quick to replace the camera which was brand new.
