Advertisement Posted September 4, 2019 Posted September 4, 2019 Hi Smogg, Take a look here Firmware 2.7.5.0 out!!. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
AndreasG Posted September 4, 2019 Share #2 Posted September 4, 2019 Under the new firmware the GPS function of the Visoflex 020 is still not available with the M10-D, that is disappointing indeed!
low325 Posted September 5, 2019 Share #3 Posted September 5, 2019 No M10-D update? Bleh.
humerc Posted September 5, 2019 Share #4 Posted September 5, 2019 There is also an update for the M10-D. Connection to Fotos app seems more stable now.
Matlock Posted September 5, 2019 Share #5 Posted September 5, 2019 Just updated my M10-D and felt really silly. All went well and I tried to take a test shot just to see all was ok but I got some rather strange readings in the finder. Tried the Visoflex 020 but got no picture. Then the penny dropped, the camera works much better when I take the lens cap off. I think that is the first time I have ever left the cap on and have often laughed at others who have, not any more. All seems to be well now. 🤔

AndreasG Posted September 5, 2019 Share #8 Posted September 5, 2019 So it seems, the GPS function in the combination M10-D/Visoflex 020 is still not yet functional.

T25UFO Posted September 5, 2019 Share #10 Posted September 5, 2019 Just to be clear, is this firmware upgrade meant for the M10-D as well? The press release only refers to M10 and M10-P.
AndreasG Posted September 5, 2019 Share #11 Posted September 5, 2019 Yes, also for the M10-D: https://de.leica-camera.com/Fotografie/Leica-M/Leica-M10-D/Downloads
DickieT Posted September 5, 2019 Share #12 Posted September 5, 2019 This is not an upgrade or update but a bug fix. Depressing that there still is no manual lens definition for the D
marcg Posted September 5, 2019 Share #13 Posted September 5, 2019 I am getting an upgrade failure. I've tried it 5 times - always the same result
scott kirkpatrick Posted September 5, 2019 Share #14 Posted September 5, 2019 There are different firmware files for each of the M10, M10-P and M10-D, and of course uploading firmware to the M10-D is a bit different. I was a bit puzzled when I read about the release on Leica Rumors, but RedDotForum spells it all out. As always, remember to upload profiles when you finish, power off, and power on again. And check to see if your files are getting numbered in some strange new folder.

I've tried it 5 times - always the same result Make sure that your new firmware file hasn't gotten a non-standard number because of having been downloaded a second time. That will make it fail. So will an incomplete download. Anyway, with a clean complete copy of the new firmware, and the instructions printed out, things usually work out. marcg Posted September 5, 2019 Share #16 Posted September 5, 2019 (edited) Okay, it completed. I downloaded another copy from the website which strangely reported a file size which was 1 byte larger than the one I had previously downloaded. This time it all went smoothly and reports that I am now on version 2.7.5.0 I suppose the first download must've been corrupted in some way although the camera thought that it was complete because it tried to carry out the upgrade. wlaidlaw Posted September 5, 2019 Share #17 Posted September 5, 2019 Very disappointed that there is no corresponding update for M240. Leica seems to have forgotten about this camera, with the last update 2 years ago. The lens codes are out of date as are the list of lenses for manual selection. Given that they still list this camera for sale as well as the "cheap" M-E version, I would have expected better. Wilson
marcg Posted September 5, 2019 Share #18 Posted September 5, 2019 Yes, if you want a company which seems to give good support for its older models then you need to go to Fuji. Leica and others could take a leaf out of their book

I've gotten the GPS on the VF20 to work on my M10-D, but it takes time. You have to turn auto power off OFF (to stay on), so that the camera and VF20 can work for 2-3 minutes in a good location. Watch the GPS icon in the viewfinder to see it change from the not-working to the available symbol. 1

Taking the lens cap off is way overrated anyway, it causes all sorts of problems especially if you press the shutter button soon after. 1
