Apparatus for previous Great Crested Grebes Nesting image:    Panasonic S1R / manual focus Canon FD 800mm f5.6 L / Original Canon 'FD to EF' converter (1.26x crop factor thus 1008mm f7.05)/ Novoflex Canon EF to SL adapter (electronic contacts blanked off with lifting tape ... otherwise will not work) / Jobu gimbal / Berlebach HD wooden tripod/ third party electronic remote release. On fence hide shelf,  Leica laser rangefinder and 1990s Baush & Lomb 'ELITE' 10x42 binocular.  The GCG nest is 75m from the fence hide (measured with Leica laser rangefinder).  Although effective focal length = 1008mm, image still requires cropping to fill the frame. Plan to repeat using Leitz 560/6.8 Telyt R plus R 2x APO extender ... and compare both images.

A forum friend just advised the GCG nesting image has CA around the birds' beaks ... which I cannot always see because of colour blindness ... so apologies for posting.

From same session as previous image but hopefully CA better controlled in post processing ... Panasonic S1R / manual focus Canon FD 800mm f5.6 L / Original Canon 'FD to EF' converter (1.26x crop factor thus 1008mm f7.05)/ Novoflex Canon EF to SL adapter (electronic contacts blanked off with lifting tape ... otherwise will not work).

Forgot to mention Sigma MC-21 'Canon EF to L mount' adapter was used with the S1R for this image ... enabling full EXIF data transmission. The Canon TS-E  90mm tilt and shift lens is manual focus.   Although the Sigma MC-21 adapter works with the Panasonic S1R camera, it will not work with the Leica SL 601 ... but it should work with the SL2

Dunk- The MC-21 does work with the SL2 in AFS mode. In my experience it works just as well as it does on the S1R.

I used the MC-21 adapter extensively with my Canon 400mm f4 USMII on the S1R (since sold) & have used it for the past 10 months with the same lens on the SL2, with excellent results, including with the Canon 1.4x TC.

Best
