Yes, you read that right, my m10 suddenly not responding when i turn on and off the switch

i tried to remove the battery, try different battery, full charge all the battery, remove the sd card, change the sd card, nothing...

so 2 months ago, i sent my m10 to leica in ginza japan, because of the intermitten switching on problem, sometimes it turn on, sometimes it doesnt, but at leat the frameline in the rangefinder is on and when i insert the battery, the red led memory card indicator is blinking. Leica ginza said that they also dont know what causing this, all they do is just changing the memory card module, it is fixed and they return it to me.

all good for 2 months, untill last night, my m10 bricked, not responding to any method mention above not even a line in the rangefinder. anyone here encounter the same problem?

is there any key combination that i can use to hard reset the m10?

i have a wedding job so this m10 behavior is really confusing... i cant rely to a camera that i cant predict whether it can turn on or not

4 months since i bought it 2 months in ginza, 2 months normal use and now dead

please help

this is the video of my m10

Sorry to hear about your troubles.

Use SD formatter on your computer to reformat your SD-card and bring it to the SD standard.
Then reformat your card again in the camera.
This method has been reported to help many people.

Furthermore, do not switch your camera on and off so quickly as in the video.
This is really not going to help the electronics in your camera.
Your camera will need about 1 or 2 seconds to start up.

Wish you success!

i tried your suggestion to format the memory card using sd formatter, it doesnt work, since, the camera itself doesnt seems to respond whether i insert the memory card or not inserting the memory card

is ther anything else i should try?

Ask Leica Store Ginza for a loaner while they send your camera to Germany for repairs

Hi Kwesi thanks for your reply

yes i hope they can do that

is there any case that leica germany replace the whole camera with a new one? since i think when i encounter my first problem its still on warranty, but im not sure now

Replacement depends on the possibility/economics of repair. They will replace in the first few weeks of ownership, though.

Hi Jaapv

thank you for your reply, noted on this, but have u seen anything like my issue before? what could be the trigger, since i didnt even touch the camera, its in my bag, i put it in a room temperature, didnt abuse it or drop it whatsoever.

Not sure if Leica Germany will replace the camera but you still have a one year warranty from the first repair so they should fix the same problem at no charge to you.

Hi Kwesi

that is good to hear so is supposed i still have 10 months to go

but i dont think its the same issue, previous one i still manage to turn it on, it will turn on once in every 20 switch or so

but this time 100% dead no response at all

Your charger may be faulty and your batteries empty.

It is an electronic device. A connector may have worked loose inside, or a circuit board failed, who knows? It might even, as suggested, be a faulty charger.

Electronic wonder or debacle ...

My first "blow" was with my then Canon EOS 5D which stopped working, nothing worked (as this present M10).

Got repaired under warranty, they told me just a fuse blowed, but it took them some hours of stripping to replace the 2mm fuse.

The worry with blown fuses is what caused the blow.

Did you follow up on Lucerne's post? Very possible. If the charger isn't charging the batteries your experience would match that condition. A volt meter and a few paperclips would let you test the batterie. I believe, make sure you verify, the two center contacts have to be linked for a reading on the outside posts. Make sure you know what you are doing or are close to the fire department.

Hi All

a liitle update on this case

i tried to reach leica via this email customer.care@leica-camera.com

tell them about my problem, but no reply till now, sent the email since 24 august

so i decide to pack all the camera with the equipment back to the box and send it to local leica store

i remove the battery for 2 days in the box

i went to the store just now, and in the store, the camera works

no problem turning on and off, using the same battery, it wont turn on before, but now it works

im confused but happy, i still need to send it for service, but at least i can use it to shoot wedding this weekend

so i didnt give my camera to leica store, i just went back home, and..........

it died again, for no apparent reasons... back to square one now but at least i know its def not the battery, i tried it on another m10, it works fine

now my question is, which email i should send my "screaming for help" letter to? since the dont reply my previous email, i need it fast because i use this camera for works

thanks before

First off, I would video trying to Turn On & Off the camera. Video the charger showing Charged.. Video all actions..  Then look up Leica Corp & get the phone number, call and speak with Customer Service.. (I did this with my first M-P240 Safari which was faulty).. Good Luck...L
