anil007 Posted August 22, 2019 Share #1 Posted August 22, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, This is my first post on the forum hope, that I am not breaking any rules. Please point out if I am. Reason for my post is, I recent acquired a Leica III camera and it show three digit serial number. I know there has been conversions done on earlier leica I to Leica III. this one tasing some red flags for me. as this looks to be in too good of a condition and also how the Nr. is written does not seem to align with how leica usually write. I am hoping someone knowledgable can shine some light on it and remove some darkness. Welcome, dear visitor! willeica Posted August 22, 2019 Share #2 Posted August 22, 2019 Seems to have been converted to a IIIf Black ( in this case white because of the black paint) Dial. If it is genuine, it would have been much more valuable if the conversion had never taken place. Looking at the diopter control, it seems that this was converted in 2 stages, firstly in the 1930s and on a second occasion in the 1950s. It might be worthwhile checking with the Leica Archives.
