doubice Posted July 30, 2007 Share #1 Posted July 30, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am aware that the 25mm Biogon keys in the 28/90mm frame and that Zeiss will, upon request and with extra cost, supply a repalcement 24/35mm mount to key in the 24mm frame on the M8. However, has anybody tried modifying the 25mm Biogon’s mount? The bayonet lug which triggers the 28/90mm frame is the longest and could be filed down to trigger the correct frame (of course with proper precautions so as not to get any shavings into the lens…). Actually, the 24/35mm frame is the ‘default’ on the M8, with the shortest bayonet lug; with careful measurement this modification should not be difficult. Once done, off to John Milich with the mount for coding recesses…… So, my query is - has anybody tried this successfully? Best, Jan

But if you send the mount to John for coding, he can probably perform both operations. (someone suggested a small drop of acetone on screwheads to facilitate unscrewing...) grober Posted July 31, 2007 Share #3 Posted July 31, 2007 I owned and actively used the 25 Biogon on film cameras but its several mechanical challenges to be "fixed" in order to fully adapt it for the M8 were too much for me. I elected to sell it and did so without difficulty. It surely is a beautiful lens. One other thing I also could not get used to was the 1/3 stops between major stops. I'm too used to 1/2 (or none at all.) (My mid-range wide for the M8 now is a hand-encoded CV 28mm Ultron wearing a B+W 486 filter.) -g
