changchishih Posted July 29, 2019 Share #1 Posted July 29, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) Anyone can help on Video autofocusing? In Q2, Do we have to manually set to AFc first and then switch to Video and then can take autofocusing video? Because I normally shooting photos with AFs, if I need to repeat that video setting every time, it is bugging. I own Q and after setup in the video settings once, I can just press the video button and shoot autofocusing, it is easy but in Q2 the settings are gone. I just want to easily take autofocusing video! Need your input here. Thanks.

omar.gurnah Posted July 31, 2019 Share #3 Posted July 31, 2019 My Q2 just autofocuses in video mode regardless of whether I have AF-S or AF-C on in photo mode. You can also force refocus during video recording with a soft press on the shutter button. I assumed you’ve tried it and gotten different results? It's glad for me to know that Autofocus should be normal from factory and am sad to know I still can not get automatically autofocus mode when switch from photo mode. No matter I reset to factory or I change focus to spot, field or multi-field focus in the photo mode. Also, I did notice that I softly press the shutter button to get a focus during my video taking however it was just a one time focus not continuous autofocus. When I set to Afc in photo mode and then swipe to video mode, I can always get autofocus no matter it's spot focus or field or multi-field. I love Q2 and can bear with it.....Just don't know what's wrong with my Q2? Maybe someone knows the reason and help to fix it. Thanks.
omar.gurnah Posted August 1, 2019 Share #5 Posted August 1, 2019 Maybe I’m mistaken then. I’ll have a check. Not many people on here shoot video with their Q/Q2 but someone else will reply eventually!
Overpowered by Funk Posted August 2, 2019 Share #6 Posted August 2, 2019 I bought a Leica to take picture, not make videos. Just my two euros.
Leica Guy Posted August 2, 2019 Share #7 Posted August 2, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) I took a short video once. It was an accident. I deleted it immediately. Bought the Q2 for stills.
John D Posted October 12, 2019 Share #8 Posted October 12, 2019 (edited) When in video mode, set to continuous AFc, and Multi Area. I have found that Multi Area focussing is smoother than spot, etc, and that the camera refocuses automatically when repositioned. I have saved my video settings as a new profile. That way I don't have to keep changing the focus settings every time to switch from camera mode to video mode. dusuacangmong Posted October 14, 2019 Share #9 Posted October 14, 2019 I think rarely people buy Q for video shoot, just for still images. And Q is not great at video too, i though.
