35mm Summilux 1.4 Experiences

Hi. I have been reading reviews and searching for information regarding the 35mm summilux. Strongly considering this for my CL. My current lens is the 18-56. I'm fine with the summilux focal length. I would appreciate hearing experiences that you might have had with this lens. Thanks in advance.

I recently swapped the 23mm Summicron for the 35mm Summilux. There's no doubt it's a great lens, sharp at 1.4 even towards the corners. Autofocus is maybe a fraction slower than the 23 with the TL2, no experience with the CL though. I do miss the size/weight of the 23mm; the Summilux is much heavier and doesn't balance as well on the TL2. It's still very manageable however. A few examples;

I just got the summicron 23 as well and contemplating on changing it to the 35mm,  could you let me know if the focus is better when your taking a close shot? also how is the close shot with low aperture compared to the 23?

Thanks Shawrob. What prompted you to swap?

I prefer 50mm FOV over 35 for street/walkaround and wanted the 1.4 for low light. The ability to isolate subjects at 1.4 is a bonus

I don't notice a different in focus speed at close distances wide open between the two. Focusing from close to infinity with the 35 is marginally slower, I expect due to the weight of the glass having to move. When deciding between the two lenses I wouldn't really consider focus speed they are that close. Both are accurate when using centre spot AF as long as there is some contrast in the frame
