Apo-Telyt 180mm on CL. Usable?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have just sold my Sony equipment and was offered to trade my remaining lenses for an Apo- Telyt 180/3.4. I already have the R-L adapter and use my Leica R macro lenses on my CL.

Is the 180mm lens is usable on the CL body for handheld shooting?

What’s the general opinion on the E60 later version of the Apo-Telyt?

Thank you,

Yevgeny

Why not? Stellar lens. Just keep the shutter speed up. Both versions are optically identical.

 Thank you, Jaapv.

I have read that the lens is optimized for the infinity and weaker at closer distances. I hope i will find a use for the Apo-Telyt on my trips.

That is correct However, albeit certainly not a macro lens it is quite satisfactory still at shorter distances.

+1 the pic below has been shot at MFD but the latter is longish on the R 180/3.4 apo (2.5m). The lens feels also heavy (750g) on a compact camera like the CL. Not a big deal if you need 280mm equiv. focal length otherwise i much prefer the M 135/3.4 apo on this body personally. YMMV.
