chris_tribble Posted July 29, 2007 Share #1 Posted July 29, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Wondering if there's any way of setting the 0 profile to DNG. I had the first serious annoyance shooting last night. I normally have Profile 1 at 160 / AWB / 3 second preview + histogram, the others with same but stepping through 320 and 1250. I had switched between 1250 and 2500 and at some point must have gone into Profile 0 - so the camera was in Fine JPEG. When I went back to 1250 (not via my profile) everything else I shot that evening was in JPEG. This I don't like. Interesting, the JPEGS actually held up fine (and LR makes JPEGS a doddle to work with), but I would have been seriously upset if it had been more critical work. Any thoughts? My MAJOR request would be to have DNG as the default through all profiles with JPEG a very conscious step - not just an accidental button press. See - I don't think the M8's perfect... Profile 0 is defined as a factory defaultr by Leica, so not changeable. Seems to be identical to the RESET function with the difference that the later also erases the profiles 1 to 3. chris_tribble Posted July 29, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted July 29, 2007 Holger - thought this was the case.... Looks like I've got my next firmware request - Make RAW the factory default. I can't see the logic of it not being. There's no point in having an idiot mode on an M body... For now I'll just have to be more careful - first and only time I've screwed up this way... Laki Posted July 29, 2007 Share #4 Posted July 29, 2007 there is a difference in resetting through profile 0 and the normal reset. the normal reset function will also reset the custom profiles (1-3), but the profile 0 reset will reset all camera functions but not the other profiles but i wondered about that at the beginning as well. chris_tribble Posted July 29, 2007 Author Share #7 Posted July 29, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Holger - no offence meant to JPEG users, and I'm glad none taken... I'm sure that they have their place in the grand scheme of things, and quite willing to accept that I may well be the idiot for not using them in capture...
