Anyone considering moving up to FF with the new M-E?

Seems a fair price with fabulous heritage and a wee summicron 35 to complement it !

Or 35mm Summarit?

Yes - but you won't gain image quality and you'll lose out on bulk and weight. Still, it is the most economical way to get into rangefinder photography if you wish to buy new.

It would be more of a sideways move ; the M series and CL compliment each other well.

For a long time I used the M series for everything, but now the CL is a toolkit camera with a variety of compact zoom, primes and adapted lenses; the M has become the specialist for fast lenses ( or film ).

The TL lenses are comparable in size to the M series, whereas with the SL lenses trend is for bulkier lenses and bodies - something I don’t want.

I moved from M 240 to CL and kept my favorite M-lenses for some simple reasons: a real and realtime EVF (!!!!), access to autofocus (for family fotos), size and weight (for traveling), image quality, handling, joy when using it, flexibility to use TL, M, R lenses. Again as jaapv wrote, about image quality, you will win nothing.

I saw the offer, I considered the M-E for some seconds; and then I remembered all the good reasons why I left the system. Some days ago there was a discussion about future of CL. I would say the future of the M is the question, at least the M as it is build now, why should I pay extra for a technologically outdated mechanical solution?

These are my thoughts exactly, the CL is just too versatile and good to give up for an M , while an M still appeals, I reckon it will be a film one if I get one !   I just adore the CL !

"Moving up" you will in size and weight, yet not in file quality and versatility. The M is the right decision if it is about the RF experience.

Took one camera this trip to Europe. First day out shooting - only with CL. Not missing M at all. Just too much flexibility with CL.

And file sizes and storage capacity.
