2-lens kit choice

For me there is no universal "two lenses to make them all".

Depending on people and situation and even that may change over time.

I used to be multi-lenses user, but only one lens is better move for me.

Choosing with care for each session, this one lens "only" can be deliberating.

That said, second lens in a pocket ( so for me it must be small/light ), can help when I'm boring with the first lens.

When I carry 50mm Summilux-M as main lens, I tend to have Elmarit-M 28mm or even the tiny Summaron-M 28mm in one pocket.

Reverse can be also nice, when I have 35mm lens as main lens, I can have in my pocket 21mm or 75mm/90mm choosen by the planned subject.

The classic dilemma. 35 with 75 or 50 with 90. You have the heavy 50lux and seem to have a preference for wider. Then choose the light 28: 2.8 and for a very small (see ebay) investment in the lightweight Leica Elmar-C 90/4 you combine the best of both worlds

Not sure if it’s liberating or debilitating. Are you related to George W Bush? :)

😄

No politic please😉.

I did want to write "deliberating" neither "liberating" or something else.

Deliberate = (in french, Harrap's Shorter) délibéré, volontaire, voulu

My preferred two lens set up is actually a two camera set up - retro and modern.  Retro is M10-D with 50mm APO Summicron and modern is Q2.  Cost wise, the Q2 sits halfway between the 28mm Summicron and 28mm Summilux and has two added benefits: a 35mm crop mode at higher resolution than the M camera, plus you don't have to change lenses.

Of course, you could go to 50mm or 75mm with the Q but 35mm is enough for me.

My favourite focal lengths are 90 / 50 / 24 / 21mm  ... but I also use 35, 70 and the 90-280mm SL.  I could probably live with 21mmm + 40mm on some occasions and 35/50 + 90 in others.  The reality is that we all go through phases and the type of subject matter also matters.

With camera bag: 28 Elmarit-M IV + Sonnar C 50 ZM

Camera only: 35 Summilux pre-ASPH I or 35 f/2 Canon LTM rangefinder lens or Sonnar C 50 ZM

Every now and then I also take the 90 Tele-Elmarit with me in my bag.

For me it’s 24 Summilux and 50 Summilux.

Maybe it could switch to 35 Cron V4 and 75 Summilux.

I'm finding 50 to be very limited on streets and better than nothing for travel.

35 is my go to lens. And 28 is it is something like Manhattan.

35 is very forgiving and 28 gives best shots if here is possibility to get close.
