a.noctilux Posted June 7, 2019 Share #21 Posted June 7, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) For me there is no universal "two lenses to make them all". Depending on people and situation and even that may change over time. I used to be multi-lenses user, but only one lens is better move for me. Choosing with care for each session, this one lens "only" can be deliberating. That said, second lens in a pocket ( so for me it must be small/light ), can help when I'm boring with the first lens. When I carry 50mm Summilux-M as main lens, I tend to have Elmarit-M 28mm or even the tiny Summaron-M 28mm in one pocket. Reverse can be also nice, when I have 35mm lens as main lens, I can have in my pocket 21mm or 75mm/90mm choosen by the planned subject.
Advertisement Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 Hi a.noctilux, Take a look here 2-lens kit choice. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jimbn Posted June 7, 2019 Share #22 Posted June 7, 2019 The classic dilemma. 35 with 75 or 50 with 90. You have the heavy 50lux and seem to have a preference for wider. Then choose the light 28: 2.8 and for a very small (see ebay) investment in the lightweight Leica Elmar-C 90/4 you combine the best of both worlds

I did want to write "deliberating" neither "liberating" or something else. Deliberate = (in french, Harrap's Shorter) délibéré, volontaire, voulu
T25UFO Posted June 8, 2019 Share #25 Posted June 8, 2019 My preferred two lens set up is actually a two camera set up - retro and modern. Retro is M10-D with 50mm APO Summicron and modern is Q2. Cost wise, the Q2 sits halfway between the 28mm Summicron and 28mm Summilux and has two added benefits: a 35mm crop mode at higher resolution than the M camera, plus you don't have to change lenses. Of course, you could go to 50mm or 75mm with the Q but 35mm is enough for me.
jrp Posted June 8, 2019 Share #26 Posted June 8, 2019 My favourite focal lengths are 90 / 50 / 24 / 21mm ... but I also use 35, 70 and the 90-280mm SL. I could probably live with 21mmm + 40mm on some occasions and 35/50 + 90 in others. The reality is that we all go through phases and the type of subject matter also matters.

SMAL Posted June 12, 2019 Share #28 Posted June 12, 2019 For me it’s 24 Summilux and 50 Summilux. Maybe it could switch to 35 Cron V4 and 75 Summilux.

Ko.Fe. Posted June 13, 2019 Share #30 Posted June 13, 2019 I'm finding 50 to be very limited on streets and better than nothing for travel. 35 is my go to lens. And 28 is it is something like Manhattan. 35 is very forgiving and 28 gives best shots if here is possibility to get close.
steve.chang Posted August 22, 2021 Share #31 Posted August 22, 2021 (edited) I was doing 35lux and 50cron, but am changing to 28cron and 75lux. Cheers. Edited August 22, 2021 by steve.chang

Good move ... untill the next one 🙃 ... To be honest, for me the first kit can be for Monday, then the second kit can be for the rest of week or other way around 😌. Post #4 reminds me of this pic taken some years ago, I hardly remember which lens was used then 🤥 Welcome, dear visitor! Narsuitus Posted August 22, 2021 Share #33 Posted August 22, 2021 I have 21, 28, 35, 45, and 90mm lenses for my 35mm rangefinders. The 35 or 45 (or 50) are my personal one-lens choice with 35 being my favorite. The 35/90 is my two-lens choice with 45 and 28 (or 50 and 28) being my second choice. If I were a big fan of the 50 and I shot a lot of landscapes, a 28 would be my choice for a second lens. If I were a big fan of the 50 and I shot a lot of portraits, a 90 would be my choice for a second lens. The 21/35/90 is my three-lens choice with 28/50/90 being my second three-lens choice.
Danner Posted August 22, 2021 Share #34 Posted August 22, 2021 I suggest the combination of a 35mm Summicron and a 50mm Summilux.
TheEyesHaveIt Posted October 24, 2022 Share #35 Posted October 24, 2022 Sorry to surface an old thread but I’m also considering a 2 lens kit. I enjoy using the Q2 which has a 28mm - would a 50mm be significantly longer for travel / architecture / landscape? How often do folks with that kit tend to swap lenses in the field? jankap Posted October 24, 2022 Share #36 Posted October 24, 2022 (edited) The Q2 has a 28mm, indeed. But the intention of the Q2 is/was - as I believe - to have the view of a 35mm and a 50mm lens also. Simply by cropping in the camera. A camera is a tool with built-in properties, that like to be used. Edited October 24, 2022 by jankap
