I like this picture. The colour appeals to me as does the generally desultory ambience. I would be tempted to rotate it slightly to try and make the cars at the edge "line up". And also possibly adjust the lens distortion in CS2.

BTW, which camera/lens/film? did you use?

IMO, such images, I would leave as is.

I love this type of shots.

Lovely colours and very well spotted, Andreas.

Coming back and looking at it a day later, I agree with you. Leave it as is. I wish I could put my finger on why I like this picture...it appeals at a subliminal level.

Yes, this is a strangely compelling shot...rather haunting. Maybe it's because of the overall feeling of desolation and chaos, overlaid by the rigid conformity of the numbered parking spaces. Lovely subfusc richness of colours, too.

cheers:

Louis, Ivan, Tomas, Tim, Sam and John,

thank you all very much for your very nice comments.

Tim,

yes that picture was taken from the C/O Berlin im Postfuhramt. To be more precise, from an opened window in the men toilet in the first floor. I was alone there and I was afraid that someone could come in while dealing with the camera, which could have been very embarrassing. But I did not see the Hoepker exhibition which runs now. I was there in May and saw Helen van Meene and the Deutsche Börse Photographie Prize.

A short explanation to others not familiar which the spot: the C/O Berlin im Postfuhramt is a kind of photography exhibition place located in a former post office build in 1875 to 1881. The car park is situated in the back yard and was attached to the office in use for their horses, carriage and stables first and later for the lorries. Maybe it could be interesting for the attendee of the One Challenge to visit the C/O Berlin. I do not which exhibition will run then but it should be worth to check it.

Regards,

Andreas

Sorry Louis, chattering about the location I almost forgot to answer your question.

I used the D-Lux3 for this picture, with Lightroom and PSE for post processing. Settings were: ISO 100, f 2.8, 1/8 sec. exposure, focal length 6.3 mm (equivalent to 28 mm in 35mm film format).

Regards,

Andreas

Ooops, haven't seen this before.

I think it is a strange shot - in the positive sense. It has something mysterious, but it is hard to say why. Is it the white cars in the rotten garage field or the reflected sky in the water? Maybe altogether, but certainly a shot which creates emotions. Something which is not easily acheved by photographs, therefore congrats!
