StS Posted July 27, 2007 Share #1 Posted July 27, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Good evening, I haven't posted any images yet in the Photo Forum, since I take practically only images of people (this is the natural habitat of an M). Having these images at the Googletips of the rest of the world would seem to me like exposing these people unduely. With password protection I would see it as unlikely someone is misusing these images (a question of statistics - the number of strange people is distributed evenly over mankind, reducing the total number will reduce the probability. I have also the feeling people act more responsible in a smaller peer group, especially if people know each other personally). Hence my question to the rest of the forum - would it be sensible to have password protection for the Photo Forum? Or am I feeling over-sensibly in this topic? Otherwise I could put these images in the bar, they would be off-topic there but the bar is the place for off-topics. Strange question - does an OT of an OT cancel itself out? Advertisement Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 Hi StS, Take a look here Having the Photo Forum Password protected?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
andybarton Posted July 27, 2007 Share #2 Posted July 27, 2007 Please don't put them in the Bar - stick them in the lounge I for one would not favour a password. Keep them on your own web space if you want to retain complete control of them.
earleygallery Posted July 27, 2007 Share #3 Posted July 27, 2007 If these people you photograph are Howard Hughes type reclusives then yes I guess you have a point, otherwise - how do they feel about other people being able to see them when they are out and about in public? Do they mind? I don't understand this sort of paranoia I'm afraid.

robert_parker Posted July 28, 2007 Share #5 Posted July 28, 2007 As you have to sign in to see most of the images, the forum is in effect a controlled space anyway - you have to utilise a username and passowrd, or sign in a a guest, to view
Guest stnami Posted July 28, 2007 Share #6 Posted July 28, 2007 ............ in the end nothing really stops images from being taken , index codes etc are easy to circumnavigate. A top line monoor will capture an image as good as the one posted, all you can do is limit the size/quality or chuck a stream of watermarks over it, Both these negate the reasons to post unless you have a sale platform/market set up already or your images are there to inform clients. . . . . . . ..if no stay paranoid!! StS Posted July 29, 2007 Author Share #8 Posted July 29, 2007 ...interestingly this seems to work for some images only - when I log off, the first one in this thread will not be displayed, the second one will. http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/customer-forum/2341-posting-multiple-images-threads-2.html Does someone know how to influence this when uploading images? Generally it's true that the images posted cannot be seen unless signed in - occasioanlly an image will remain visible - however I don't know the reason for this

Philippe D. Posted August 25, 2007 Share #13 Posted August 25, 2007 Hi Andreas, Images are only visible to registered users and can't be indexed by Google.I'm curious, why some pictures are here with a frame and saying "attached pictures", and some not.I never got this "attached pictures + frame" with my pictures uploads. How come ? Thanks.

andybarton Posted August 27, 2007 Share #20 Posted August 27, 2007 Philippe, Not quite sure what you mean there. I haven't had to use the mouse to upload images, or move them around. Only to click on the buttons!
