I was under the impression that 'Ladybird' Johnson, LBJ's wife, decreed as part of her 'Beautification drive', back in the 1960s  that all unsightly roadside distractions were to be  hidden from view by walling them up or fencing things so the public couldn't see them.

Can't remember the last time I saw an open junkyard, even if this one is in the middle of nowhere on Idaho Hwy #46, south of Fairfield.

The redoubt of Schilde, it was part of the pre WW1 defense ring around Antwerp

When the Belgian army surrendered in november 1914 they tried to blow up this concrete structure, but they were only partly successful.

This is how it looks 108 years after this, and given the size and strength of this concrete mastodont I think it will lay there like this for many more years.

The redoubt of Schilde, part of the pre WW1 defense ring around Antwerp, partly blown up by the Belgian army when they surrendered in 1914. Still laying there 110 years later and I think it will take at least that amount of time before nature has reclaimed it all.
