Monastery of the Holy Trinity in Vilnius

Used by the USSR as a truck garage until the 90's,  I was pleased to see recent photos posted in the Leica Forum of the ongoing restoration.

Since my first visit to the old ghost-town of Bodie State I've viewed this State Park in northern Calif, near the city of Bridgeport as the perfect subject and as the definitive example for this thread. In one of the few enlightened and logical decisions regarding managing a histroric site, the state decided to not make a tourist attraction of it, but rather to merely monitor the natural deterioration and allow vivsitors see what life was like back in the day, and lend a hand or a supporting beam as needed and only when & where needed. At almost 9000 feet above sea level and located in one of the driest spots in North America, preservation is not much of a problem since the mostly local wood used in the construction of the structures simply doesn't decay.

If you ever find yourself in the area, I urge you to visit Bodie for a great day of photography.

................and another one from the area. It's nice to know it's all authentic and original, not a 'staged' display. When the gold ran out people simply left.
