ibramr Posted December 30, 2020 Share #1145 Posted December 30, 2020 (edited) Noctilux 50mm f0.95 on Leica M246 and Silver Efex. I took the shot in the back of Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC., few days ago. I tried to repeat the look and feel of an earlier version, with Summilux 75mm f1.4, here, but it seems that I was not careful enough. Both lenses are a joy to use. Welcome, dear visitor! verwackelt Posted January 4, 2021 Share #1155 Posted January 4, 2021 (edited) Although no noctilux owner (in better days i owned a 1.0 too) want to hear it, but i like the shot at 2.8 more than that at 0.95. But both are beautiful portraits anyway… Edited January 4, 2021 by verwackelt
01maciel Posted January 9, 2021 Share #1156 Posted January 9, 2021 The Vario Heliopan Filter vignettes severely at f1.0. It's a matter of taste. Welcome, dear visitor! I got the impression that EdwinWong wanted to show this. In my view this has a lot to do with the shortest distance of 1m. If that could be closer the bokeh of the Noctilux could come out better. [edited] Thank you for your comment on the Heliopan. I learnt from elsewhere that the variable Heliopan has a tendency to vignette more on the Noctilux with six stops in comparison to five, four, or three. Please advise if you have a similar experience. Thank you. Edited January 9, 2021 by ibramr

Please advise if you have a similar experience. Thank you. The alternative is to use a 62mm Heliopan Vario-ND and a 60 to 62 mm step-up ring if the vignetting is too intrusive. It's worth remembering that the f/1.0 itself vignettes at f/1.0 without a filter attached (which some of us find attractive) so the Vario-ND is only adding to the 'natural' vignetting. Keith (M) Posted January 9, 2021 Share #1160 Posted January 9, 2021 (edited) Quite a long while ago, I posted here that I really should stop following the thread - temptation was gathering force. For a while I managed to go 'cold-turkey' but then relapsed. Result? I just took the plunge and pushed the button on an f1 v4 which hopefully will arrive early next week. Being something of monochrome maniac, main use will be on my M10M (with Visoflex 020 if needed) but I will dabble with some rolls of b&w in my M7 (high time I used it again - eleven months of M10M ownership has left it on the shelf). Colour-wise I'll probably use my A7III to take advantage of the EVF / focus peaking rather than my M240. Wish me luck! Actually, one of my main concerns was regarding weight and bulk and to test this I put my 21-35mm Vario-R + adaptor on M10M. Assembly weight is close to how it will be with the Noctilux. Seems to be manageable, at least for my nowadays usual outing length of an hour or so. (D-Lux 7 photo). Welcome, dear visitor!
