Been shooting with the M10 for about a year. I had some trouble formatting a new card (a 32 GB Sandisk Extreme Pro 95MB/s) and Leica NJ suggested I try a different card. I'd been using these cards in several different cameras without issue, but figured fine, a new card won't break the bank. I got a pair of Sandisk Extreme 150 MB/s cards and have been using one in the camera for a while. Shot some this morning and worked on a file, backed up the images on my external drive, put the card in the camera, formatted it, and went to lunch. Made some images on the way home from lunch, and when I put the card into the computer I found Bridge saying 'No Items' when I opened the L100 folder. Finder (Mac OS Mojave) displayed files, but couldn't generate a preview image. I clicked on one of the files, and Photoshop said the file type was not recognized.

Connected the camera to my phone and all the images display fine. I Airdropped a file to the computer and both Bridge and Photoshop had no problem displaying or opening them. Thoughts?

Can I use an SDXC card on my Mac with Windows?

You can use an SDXC card in Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10 with these Mac computers:

MacBook Pro (Early 2011 and later)
MacBook Pro models from 2016 and later don't have a built-in SD card slot. You can use a USB-C card reader, or a combination of a USB-C to USB Adapter and a USB card reader.

MacBook Air (Mid 2011 and later)

Mac mini (Mid 2011 and later)
Mac mini (Mid 2010) doesn't support SDXC cards.

iMac (Mid 2011 and later)
iMac (Mid 2010) doesn't support SDXC cards.

What might be happening is that your system has lost its recognition of file type xxxx.dng   .   It’s a configuration problem and not a fault.  File types (file name extensions)  are associated with applications within a database maintained in the operating system.  Adobe apps may have picked up an altered filetype/ app associations..

check the associations.

Alright, did some fussing about today.

This is a late 2015 iMac with 32 GB of ram and I have a dedicated 500GB scratch disk for PS.

Ran Disk Utility so permissions are all up to date. Adobe has the M10 DNG camera profile file in the proper place.

Both the new SDXC cards are acting the same way.Old DNG files from an external drive, same camera, same firmware, same batch of SDHC cards still open without issue - both files I have edited previously and ones I have not.

Just pulled out another of the SDHC cards formatted it in camera, made a test shot and it worked fine (I'm leaving that one in the camera for the time being).

I guess the next step is to uninstall PS and Camera Raw and maybe Bridge and re-install them.

Did you read the part in my last post about your Mac and SDXC cards?

Tried the cards in my laptop - running the last version of Bridge and the cards all work fine.

getting a little bleary here.

perhaps you can try copying the files from the SDXC card to a folder on your mac desktop and then opening the files from the desktop in bridge

Yes. But as a late 2015 I should be safe no? And this happens with a SDHC card as well.

I haven’t tried that, tho finder can not generate a preview or thumbnail image even in the folder.

I’m thinking it is time for a third clean reinstall of Mojave on this machine. It has been no end of glitchy since I updated.

forget the preview ...just see if photoshop loads the files from the desktop, instead of directly from the card

Ive just found the following post in the Leica Q section.   It may be relevant to your problems.

Interesting issue.  Have you considered giving up, ordering a variety of cards and selecting one that works?  Also, I do wonder if this is a mechanical interface issue rather than software/firmware.

Messing around with software/firmware can gobble days at a time...amazon prime is tomorrow.

If the cards didn't work in my laptop without issue I would certainly do this, but I'm thinking that the computer needs some fix as this is the latest in a string of OS/software issues since I upgraded to Mojave.

When I try and copy a DNG to the desktop I get "The Finder can't complete the operation because some data in "L6002388.DNG" can't be read or written. (Error Code -36)

I'm going to take the computer in to the nearest shop over in Burlington Monday. Hopefully they will have better luck with the third re-install of Mojave than I did with the first and second. Plus, if an authorized service center can't fix this then I may be able to get somewhere with Apple replacing the machine.

It is the card reader.

Possibly, if the op is using an noname plug in external card reader on the desktop machine.  It might not have the specification to read this higher standard of card.   A  MacBook Pro doesn’t require a plug in card reader so is adequately specced.

Even the built in ones of the older variety won’t play nice with the newest cards. I tried telling him that several posts back.
