FeralCoton Posted May 8, 2019 Share #1 Posted May 8, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) i bought an m10-p a month ago and just completed the sale of my m240 last week. all of a sudden the shutter button on the m10 no longer rises. if i use a toothpick, it easily comes up, but then just pulls back down. so after taking at most 50 pics (work's been busy), i'm on a trip and cannot take a photo. Any thoughts? there have been no liquid spills, drops, etc. it worked fine on tuesday then when i pull it out fo the case on thursday the button is down. I'd appreciate suggestions (giving it back to Leica is low on the list given the turn around and i've registered for a 2k workshop at the end of the month). thanks

frame-it Posted May 8, 2019 Share #3 Posted May 8, 2019 its sad that so many people just don't wanna return their camera to leica service for fear of a crazy long waiting period...and the fact that there are so many stories on this forum of products coming back after months and not fixed or something else is messed up.
Gobert Posted May 8, 2019 Share #4 Posted May 8, 2019 Why sad? forum is a magnet of problems. That applies for every forum. 2

It is the reason why it took me so long to send off my M10 for calibration, and why I just phoned Wezler. I know it was received there last Friday morning but hasn't entered their system yet, may be a few more days, then who knows how long till it's sent back. I had sort of factored in around a month, after that I will probably phone on a daily basis. When in the past I have had serious camera failures or faults with Canon, resolved, repaired and turned around in less than four days, it makes it hard to be patient waiting for something that can be done quite simply. Think I should have treated myself to a flight and visited Wetzlar would have been an enjoyable experience rather than a stressful wait. Hope FeralCoton you get your shutter button sorted quickly.
FeralCoton Posted May 8, 2019 Author Share #7 Posted May 8, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) just to follow up in case anyone has this issue. it was minor but hard to detect. the reason the shutter butter seemed depressed (it actually wasn't) was that the silver ring around the button had unscrewed some. this made it impossible to depress the button as it was flush with the indentation of the ring. screwing it down fixed everything. (thanks to leica soHo for checking it and figuring it out).

(thanks to leica soHo for checking it and figuring it out). It is unfortunate to have to go to such an extent. Many years ago I got a set of grip wrenches to fasten/unfasten round retainers we find on our Leicas. They are like this. Other sources are plentiful. Best of luck looking forwardl Edited May 8, 2019 by pico
Hey You Posted May 9, 2019 Share #9 Posted May 9, 2019 I had the same problem, and it tends to recur. I find that the ring around the button will not lock in place and has a tendency to unscrew, probably because my finger loosens it whenever I switch the camera off. Not a big deal, but it did disconcert me when it first happened.
