I can't see the whole viewfinder screen because my right eye sees bigger than the left. Why ?

I was very undecided whether to open this thread because it is essentially a physical problem but, since it applies to the view through the viewfinder of my M10, I hope there may be someone with the same problem that can give me an explanation.  My problem is that with the right eye I see things bigger than with the left, about 30-40% more.  Obviously this prevents me from being able to see the entire screen available.  I am both astigmatic and shortsighted.  No one has been able to give me an explanation, not even a doctor, except for a generic “it could be for the visul defects you have...”  I also found nothin in internet...

Well, the M10 has a telescope system, not a screen.
For this reason your problem might be solved.

Japan Exposures sells a 0.85 "magnifier", they used to call it minifier.

http://www.japanexposures.com/shop/accessories/ms-mag-x0.85w-magnifier-for-leica-m.html

It is marked as "sold out" but if you explain your problem, they might be able to help you. Also this item turns up on eBay occasionally.

You could also contact Walter Leica. He might be able to produce a dedicated eyepiece for you. But that is a big maybe.

I'm left eye M user, now...

while long time ago, I used to be right eye user for decades.

If possible try to know which of your eye IS comfortable to use your Leica M,

then find some "correction" for that eye for more comfort.

That can be just an eye simple dioptre or something more sophisticated.

yes jaapv, it's not a screen (the fault is of my bad English) but the fact is that I see less area of the viewfinder with the right eye (and the left is not easy for me to use) and I don't think there is any accessory to scale down it.

Excuse me jaapv, now I have seen...  Unfortunately they write “the minifier is not reccomended while wearing glasses”.   However I am curious to know if someone else has the same problem and which are the causes

This could also be an eyepoint problem, i.e. you don't see the outermost framelines because your eye is too far from the ocular because you are wearing glasses. This distance could be different for each eye. Also a possible difference in lens strength may have some effect. Have you tried adjusting the position of your glasses so that they get closer to your eye? At least this has helped for me, although I still cannot see the 28mm frame lines without shifting my eye a little. My problem is the same for both eyes.

That is correct - thus it has a diopter correction.

You could try taking the eyepiece rubber off.  This will allow your eye to get closer to the viewfinder and thus let you see more of the frame lines.  The downside is that you risk scratching your glasses.

if this doesn't work then your only other options are to use the evf, a longer lens, or get contact lenses (assuming contact lenses can fix your eye problems).

Personally, i find that only the 50mm (and above) frame lines are worth using when wearing glasses.
