paul.bridges.3388 Posted April 16, 2019 Share #1 Posted April 16, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) Newbie question: Does the Q/Q2 apply lens corrections, which correct for inherent lens distortions of the wide 28mm lens? Specifically wondering if the Q/Q2 is suitable for portraits. In the absence of lens correction (OOC or post) will the Q/Q2 be less flattering due to the distortion of 28mm (vs 35mm or 50mm, for example)? Advertisement Posted April 16, 2019 Posted April 16, 2019 Hi paul.bridges.3388, Take a look here Q/Q2 28mm lens correction. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Mute-on Posted April 16, 2019 Share #2 Posted April 16, 2019 Q corrects for optical distortion (e.g. barrel, pin cushion), but does not correct for perspective distortion, which is inherent in wide angle lenses of any type or manufacturer. If you want to use a 28 for portraits, try to keep the subject close to the centre of the image, and do not attempt to fill the frame with the face. A 28 or 35 is ideal for environmental portraits, however. For head shots, use a 90. 3
